Goans Hockey is the registered State Sports Association affiliated with Hockey India, the national governing body for the sport. It is responsible for administering and promoting hockey in Goa for both men and women.

Since its inception in 2009, Goans Hockey has been actively working to develop the sport through regular coaching camps and tournaments. The association has been commended by the Sports Authority of Goa for organizing state-level championships across districts in all major categories:

  • Senior Men and Women
  • Junior Men and Women
  • Sub-Junior Boys and Girls

Goans Hockey has consistently fielded teams to represent Goa at the National Hockey Championships organized by Hockey India, ensuring participation across all age groups and levels.

Goans Hockey was honored with the Best State Award among all Indian states in 2021. It stands out as the only state association that conducts State and District Championships across eight categories:

  • Senior Men and Women
  • Junior Men and Women
  • Sub-Junior Men and Women
  • Sub-Junior U-16 Men and Women
  • Sub-Junior U-14 Men and Women

In addition to these championships, Goans Hockey actively facilitates opportunities for players to represent the state at the National Hockey Championships organized by Hockey India at all levels. Furthermore, various clubs across the state host tournaments throughout the year, adding to the sport’s vibrancy.

Since its inception in 2009, Goans Hockey has worked tirelessly to promote and develop the sport. This dedication was reflected in the enthusiastic participation of many Goans players in the 15th Hockey India Championship held this year.

GOAN HOCKEY FAQ’S

Any registered club in the state of Goa that is interested in the promotion and development of hockey is eligible to apply for membership with Goans Hockey. Interested clubs must submit a formal application to the association. The application will first be reviewed by the Executive Committee and subsequently ratified by the General Body.
Yes, all players must be compulsorily registered to be eligible to participate in any tournament conducted in the state of Goa. Player registration must be completed online through the Hockey India Portal.
We have 29 schools participating in hockey besides we have 15 clubs participating at Hockey Games.
Yes, any registered club affiliated with Goans Hockey may organize a hockey tournament, provided they obtain prior permission from the association. A nominal fee is applicable for conducting the tournament. If a club or institution is not registered with Goans Hockey, they must first submit a formal request for permission of intent before organizing any event. It is important to note that players are not allowed to participate in unsanctioned tournaments, as per the rules and regulations of Goans Hockey.
